I've used this in centers and as a whole class activity.  It works best if you have FOAM dice - because they're quiet.  :)

Enjoy!

Hi there!!!
This is Deedee from Mrs. Wills Kindergarten and I am excited to be guest blogging!

To be honest, I can count on one hand the number of times I have guest blogged, but I was pumped when this opportunity came up.

What a sweet little blog this is!

Anyhooo... you are probably thinking, "Stop blabbing and hand over the loot!"

So here you go!
This sight word game includes a page that is editable, so you can add your OWN  words!   I have given this to a 2nd grade teacher and she plans on adding her weekly spelling list (including past spelling words).

Come by and see me sometime!

Take Home Backpack Freebie!

I am very excited to be starting the whole Take Home Backpack thing with my kids.  I have seen teachers do it here and there but it was not until my own kindergartner got to participate in it that I really saw the impact it had!

So here is my FIRST Take Home Backpack Activity!

The idea is to create a backpack with a few items in it that the students can do at home with their families.  The backpack will go home with a different child each night and returned the next day.  Here's what's included in this set:

Teacher directions with ideas.

Stop by to see all these fun things:  a class book, a cover for your class book, a journal cover for the families to document their activities with the stuffed animal, and directions for the parents.

Snowman Glyph

If you're collecting crafts for winter time, you'll want to pick up this fun little snowman glyph!

Have your students answer the questions provided to build their own snowman! Each snowman will tell a different story and they look adorable all hanging up on the bulletin board!

Deck the Tree - Numeral ID

Hey friends! I hope you all had a fantastic Thanksgiving.....I ate WAY too much -- note to self:  Diet is a must!

I am in full Christmas spirit and can't wait to start teaching with some super fun Christmas-y stuff!!

I know my kids are struggling with recognizing numerals and that skill really is about having repeated practice  so it makes for a perfect math tub. With this goodie your kids will be decorating their own Christmas tree with ornaments....but they have to know the numeral to add an ornament to their tree. I've also included "Lose a Turn" cards and "Add 2 FREE ornaments" cards to spice it up!

I hope you enjoy!

If I Were a Gingerbread...

Not like I am trying to rush this WONDERFUL Thanksgiving break or anything...but, I have to start planning my next two weeks of school! I am doing a Gingerbread Unit for two weeks. I LOVE this unit. The children love reading and comparing all of the different books and we always have a blast when our gingerbread men run away!!
I thought this would be a cute little addition to our unit...

You can grab it for free by clicking on the picture above. Enjoy!!

FREE Gingerbread Math Puzzles and Goofy GBM Pattern

Thanksgiving is O-V-E-R (well, almost), so I am thinking about what the next five weeks will look like in the classroom.  I don't know about yours, but mine will be filled with discussions, smells and sights of Gingerbread Men.  Come on over to my blog to grab some of my FREE Gingerbread activities:
Every classroom should have these GOOFY Gingerbread Men hanging in them for the holidays!  Come grab my FREE Gingerbread Man pattern that you can customize with student pictures if you want to!

Also, if you and your students loved my Thanksgiving math puzzles, you'll love this Gingerbread Man one as well that provides many options for different levels or your students!  The students love the challenge of having to guess what the picture is, then using their smarts to find out if they were right!

Counting Christmas Coins

I just can't help myself...

I am getting ready for Christmas activities in my classroom!

I posted my Christmas Centers last night, but I thought you all might like a freebie.  My math program doesn't hit money for a LONG time (I know, I know- it isn't in the common core, but challenging them can't hurt!). Although we talk about coins every day at calendar, I would like to see my students do some small group and independent practice as well.  Head over to my shop to snag this Santa freebie!

Happy Thanksgiving friends! I am Oh-So-Thankful for my blogging community!

Roll Say Keep Gingie!

It's getting to be that time of year.  Our thoughts turn towards holiday activities.  Personally, I have Gingie on my mind.  So I'm adding some Gingerbread themed activities to my class and hope you can use them too.

Here's a bit of a twist on an old Roll, Say, Keep favorite.  It's differentiated and aligned so you're all set to go.  Whether your kiddos need practice with letters/sounds or sight words you'll be able to meet the readiness of your students.

Let me know what you think.
